Emerald shiners banned 
as bait in Ontario

The province no longer allows commercial bait to be moved in or out of Lake Simcoe near Barrie. That includes the popular emerald shiner. Read more here.

 Outdoors Card Update


The Ministry of Natural Resources has introduced a new Automated Licensing System (ALS) for outdoor cards and licenses. The implementation of the system has had its problems, and the MNR is working to iron out the glitches causing delays.

Hopefully the problems will be cleared up quickly.

Walleye Project

To increase our knowledge on walleye movement and better manage the fishery, a tracking study is being conducted with walleye tagged from Lake Huron and Lake Erie. Each fish will have up to 2 external tags and 1 internal transmitter. In the event that you catch and keep one of these tagged walleye, there is a $100.00 reward for reporting the fish and returning the internal transmitter. Andrew Hazen - Oct. 2, 2011, son of John Hazen, Life Member of the Club, and Elizabeth Hazen - Mar. 11, 2011, mother of John Hazen.

The Sudbury Game and Fish Protective Association is actively involved in the conservation, health, and welfare of the wildlife and resources in and around the Sudbury Area.

We work aggressively to maintain and improve the environment, fish, and wildlife in our community through such projects as stocking fish, annual tree planting, and helping to re-introduce Elk into Ontario.
